The 7 LONGEST RIVER IN INDONESIA

Indonesia is a country located in the tropical equatorial. Indonesia is also located between two oceans and two continents, so do not be surprised if Indonesia has a high rainfall. Rainfall is evenly distributed throughout the year almost led to Idonesia rich river. No matter where we go will easily find the river from small to large ones. 

River in Indonesian society plays a very important. Rivers can be used to irrigate the fields, washing, drinking water, or even can be used as a means of transportation. Here is a list of the longest river in Indonesia: 

1. Kapoeas


Kapuas river located in Borneo, flows from Muller Mountains and empties into the Strait Karimata. Kapuas River snaking along 1,143 Km. Kapuas river used by locals for bathing and washing purposes and the main used as a means of transportation. 

 2. Mahakam River


The Mahakam River is also located on the island of Borneo is located in East Kalimantan. Mahakam river flows as far as 980 km from Mulller Mountains and empties into the Makassar Strait. Mahakam River has several tributaries, the River Belayan, the Lawa River, River Kedang Head, Telen river, and the river Tenggarong. Generally River in Kalimantan, Mahakam River is also used as a means of transport. 

3. Barito


Barito River is the third longest river in Indonesia. It has a length of 909 Km. Starting from the Barito River in Kalimantan Schwaner mountains and ends in the Java Sea. Barito river conditions are currently very poor because of land conversion from forest to oil palm plantations, causing silting of the river Barito 

4. Batang Hari River


Batang Hari river is located in the city of Jambi and is the longest river in Sumatra. length of the river is about 800 km but more. Width size of about 250-600 m. Batang Hari River becomes the estuary for 34 rivers and 10 creeks. Batang Hari River springs from Mount Rasan (2,585 m) and empties into the east of the island of Sumatra. 

5. Musi River

The next longest is Musi River in length of 750 Km. Musi River is located in South Sumatra. Spring water sourced in the area Kepahiang, Bengkulu. Palembang Musi River divides the city into two parts of the region: Ilir to the north and across from Ulu in the south. Ampera Bridge in Jambi built on this river. Ogan River, Rawas River, Leko river, Lakitan Kelingi river, Lematang river, Semangus river, river Ogan are several rivers that flow into the Musi River. 

 6. Indragiri River

Located in the province of Riau, Indragiri River is a combination of two rivers namely river and Sinawar Ombirin. As one of the longest river in Indonesia Indragiri river has a length of 500 km.  

7. River Seruyan


As the name suggests, the river flows in the District Seruyan Seruyan Central Kalimantan province. Seruyan River flows from north to south and empties into the Java Sea. As the 4th longest river, the river has a length of 350 Km Seruyan. With a depth of 8 meters and an average width of 300 meters,. Seruyan river impassable large vessels up to 300 Km.
